What Banknorden is
Banknorden is a loan comparison and guide site for five markets: Finland, Spain, Norway, Denmark and Sweden. Each country has its own section, written in the local language and based on the rules that apply there. Borrowing works differently from country to country: interest caps, credit registers, the information a lender must give you and where to get free help all follow national law. That is why we do not translate one set of pages into five languages; each section is written for its own market.
The site has two parts. Guides explain how loans work, what they cost and what to check before you sign. Offer lists show current offers from lenders and brokers in our partner network, so that you can compare them on the effective annual rate and the total amount to repay.
Who runs the site
Banknorden is published by Seofy ApS, a Danish company (CVR 38069187) based at Tjørnestræde 9, DK-7100 Vejle, Denmark. Seofy ApS runs a network of Nordic personal-finance websites, and Banknorden is the network's international site. Banknorden does not lend money and is not owned by any lender. The network also runs single-language sites in several of these countries; Banknorden brings the five markets together under one name, with an English entry page for readers who want to start there and then move on to their own country's section.
How our content is made
Every country section is signed by its own editorial team. AI tools help us produce first drafts; a person then checks, edits and approves each page, and nothing goes live without that approval. Statements about the law, interest rates or credit registers rest on official material – legislation, supervisors, consumer authorities – and each page lists the sources it used.
Steffen Lauenborg, who founded the network, is the responsible editor and reviews the content. He is also Director of Seofy ApS, the company behind Banknorden. Because Seofy ApS receives commissions from some of the lenders and brokers on the site, we state that conflict of interest openly here and on our methods page.
Our reviews of lenders stick to what each company publishes and what official registers show. We give no stars or scores and print no customer testimonials. The full method is described on how we compare.
Who our readers are
Banknorden is written for people who live in one of our five markets and want to understand a loan before they take it: what it will cost in total, what the lender will check, what their rights are, and what to do if repayments become difficult. Many readers arrive with an urgent need for money. For them in particular we explain the cheaper alternatives to fast credit, such as agreeing a payment plan with the creditor, and where to find free advice. Readers who live in one country and search in English can use the English pages, but the rules that apply to them are always those of the country they live in.
How we are funded
The site is free to use. We are paid a commission by some partners when a loan is applied for or taken out through our pages. The order of offers is set by our offer feed and is not a recommendation. You can read the details on how we compare and in our disclaimer.
Our principles
- Cost first. We lead with the effective annual rate and the total amount to repay, not with how fast or easy a loan is.
- Local rules. Each section explains the law of its own country, and says when a rule is only a proposal or about to change, with the date it takes effect.
- Responsible borrowing. We encourage readers to borrow only what they can repay on time, explain what late payment leads to, and point to the free help available in each market.
- Corrections. When we find an error, or a reader points one out, we correct it and update the review date on the page.
